Report: Kings expected to open trade talks on All-Star De'Aaron Fox

Another NBA All-Star could be on the move.

The Sacramento Kings are "expected to open up talks" on point guard De'Aaron Fox, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Tuesday.

Fox joins Miami's Jimmy Butler as All-Stars who are reportedly up for grabs ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

Set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2026, Fox "has a target destination in mind," per Charania. ESPN's James Ham later reported that if Fox leaves Sacramento, his preferred destination would be the San Antonio Spurs. The Atheltic also noted that the Spurs have long been seen as the likely choice for Fox.

The Kentucky product was drafted fifth overall by the Kings in the 2017 draft and has spent his entire eight-year career with the club.

In 43 games this season, the 27-year-old is averaging 25.2 points, 6.2 assists and five rebounds as the Kings sit 10th in the Western Conference at 24-22.

The Kings fired head coach Mike Brown on Dec. 28 but have been better since handing Doug Christie the interim role, including a 7-3 mark in their past 10 games.

Fox won the inaugural Clutch Player of the Year Award in 2023, the same year as his lone All-Star selection. He led the league in steals last season.
